A BC wills notice indicates the person who has made the will, the date of the will and where the will is located. The actual will is not kept with the BC Vital Statistics Agency. Requesting a search of wills notice in BC will indicate that a will has been registered with the BC Vital Statistics Agency.

Who Can Apply For a Search of Wills Notice in BC With This Application?
This site is available for use by the legal profession and general public to obtain British Columbia Government approved and official wills notice searches issued by the government agency as an independent authorized agent.
Anyone can request a BC search of wills notice of a deceased person. You must be the person named in the will or a lawyer acting on behalf of the person named in the will to request a BC search of wills notice of a living person. Please complete this application for a BC search of wills notice of a living person.
A BC search of wills notice may be released to:

Fees & Processing Times
Service times listed are approximations and are not guaranteed. Incomplete or inaccurate applications will significantly delay processing time.
- Search of Wills Notice only – Regular Service – 15 business days average processing and mailing time – $70.00 plus $5.00 for each additional variation of the deceased subject’s name provided (includes all taxes and mailing costs)
- Search of Wills Notice only – Rush Service – 5 to 8 business days average processing and mailing time – $105.00 (includes all taxes and mailing costs)
- Certificate of Death and Search of Wills Notice – Regular Service – 20 – 30 business days average processing and mailing time – $150.00 plus $5.00 for each additional variation of the deceased subject’s name provided (includes all taxes and mailing costs)
- Certificate of Death and Search of Wills Notice – Rush Service – 10 to 15 business days average processing and mailing time – $185.00 plus $5.00 for each additional variation of the deceased subject’s name provided (includes all taxes and mailing costs)
Fees include all taxes, search, shipping and processing charges.

If no record of a will is found by the British Columbia Vital Statistics Agency, fees will be applied to the search cost and will not be refunded by the Agency.
