Required as proof of a legal marriage, to ensure the rights of spouses and children are respected, to apply for certain social benefits, to settle an estate and to change or hyphenate a surname, Yukon marriage certificates can be ordered by proceeding to step 1 below.

Who Can Apply For a Yukon Marriage Certificate With This Application?

This site is available for use by the legal profession and general public to obtain Yukon Government approved and official certificates of birth issued by the government agency as an independent authorized agent.

Marriage certificates in Yukon may be released to:

  • Either party of the marriage; or
  • A person who has written authorization from a person described above.

Is the Certificate of Marriage Required to Apply for a Divorce?

Yes, you must have an original government issued Certificate of Marriage or Restricted Photocopy of Registration of Marriage to apply for a divorce in Canada. If you require a low-cost divorce service, we recommend www.untietheknot.ca

Fees & Processing Times

Payment can be made by Visa, MasterCard, American Express, cheque or money order – Please make cheque or money order payable to “ExpressLegal”

Certificates ordered with regular service average 10 to 15 business days to be processed and delivered.

Certificates ordered with rush service average 5 to 8 days to be processed and delivered.

Service times listed are approximations and are not guaranteed. Incomplete or inaccurate applications will significantly delay processing time.

  1. Marriage Certificate – $60.00 each
  2. Restricted Photocopy of Marriage Registration – $80.00 each
  3. Rush Service – $20.00 additional priority processing cost (includes multiple certificates)

Fees include all taxes, search, shipping and processing charges.

If no record of the marriage is found by Yukon Vital Statistics, fees will be applied to the search cost and will not be refunded.

All marriage certificates in Yukon are mailed directly from Yukon Vital Statistics.

Yukon Large Marriage Certificate (Framing Size)

Contains the full names of the couple or individuals at the time of marriage, place of birth, date of marriage, place of marriage, sex, registration number, and date of registration.

Yukon Small Marriage Certificate (Wallet Size)

Contains the full names of the couple or individuals at the time of marriage, date of marriage, place of marriage, sex, registration number, and date of registration.

Yukon Restricted Photocopy of Marriage Registration

This a photocopy of the actual marriage registration. It is legally the most complete document. The photocopy is certified as a true copy of the original.

NOTE: Certified copies are rarely needed by citizens and are, by law, for restricted use only. They are generally only required for court or consulate purposes. They are not recommended for use as identification purposes.
